Gravity Surveying

Typically used to search for high-density ores. The method can also be used to study geological structures related to ore exploration. The method is based on measuring changes in gravity, dense metal ores cause a positive anomaly in the gravity field. It can also be applied to negative anomalies, such as in the search for industrial minerals or in estimating soil thickness.

 


 

Method

Gravity surveying is effective in structural geological investigation of ore potential areas. The method is also effective in locating and delimiting metal ore deposits for subsequent investigation methods, e.g. sampling and drilling. The method is also often applied in groundwater investigation when estimating soil thickness on a large scale.

Gravity surveying is a passive method, so only a receiver is needed. Investigations are usually carried out at pre-planned measurement points. The height of each point above sea level is also measured. We use modern RTK-GPS systems for height measurement.

Equipment and data

We use the market-leading Scinter CG-5 and CG-6 gravimeters. However, if necessary, you can ask us for alternative equipment. Geovisor has excellent connections to equipment rental companies and an extensive cooperation network. Our staff has diverse experience with various geophysical equipment.

Customers always receive quality-assured raw data from the surveys. In addition, we process and analyze the data. The selected level of reporting and customer familiarization with the survey results are carried out as agreed.

Gravimetric profiles, maps and 3D models are created in accordance with the agreement.
